Here’s a bit about our story
I created RamBall back in 1994 for my daughter’s 7th birthday party. I wanted a game which was unique for all to play and special for her party. The weather report called for a rainy day so I figured the kids could throw the balls from a tarp covered patio and keep them busy.
I found leftover wood from a shed project along with an old rusting metal patio chair.
I went to the lab with a jig saw, a drill and tie wraps.
I cut 3 mouse holes at different sizes and labeled them with 5-25-10 point values
I then secured the chair legs with tie wraps to make the board stand upright with a slight slant.
I had water filled Bocce Balls.
I exited the laboratory with a new game…………
*****RamBall was ALIVE *****
I didn’t even use duct tape……..
The kids and adults all had a blast.
The game went on to replace Bocce Ball which was the family staple for years.
A few enhancements to the board through the years and we now have RB 3.0
I was always asked to bring “The Game” to get togethers …..and I was always insured an invite thereafter
We have had so many great matches with so many fun memories attached through the years. Quite a few matches had a few Rammers tied in regulation and had to go into RamOff and there is nothing like OT to get the juices going.
We used to play with special security…haha..to keep the game under wraps but we have decided to share the fun with everyone.
Mr Steve has hosted a RamBall weekend for 10 years and counting…..would have been 11 but we had a Covid year ….UGH
Mr Steve wears many hats on our team and keeps the balls ramming.
Fun Note - everyone can play and when Grandma played in a wheelchair it became
Gram Ball!
There are so many great backyard games out there and we hope you give RamBall a shot !
RAM ON,
Mr. Julie
